Choosing the right resin grinding wheel requires considering three core dimensions: workpiece material, machining process, and performance requirements. The specific selection logic is as follows:

 

Select parameters and specifications based on the machining process:

Rough Grinding/Removing Excess/Cut-off Processes: Prioritize resin grinding wheels with a grit size of 36#~60# and medium to low hardness. Rough grinding requires rapid removal of excess material. Resin grinding wheels offer good self-sharpening properties, strong impact resistance, are less prone to breakage, and are cheaper, making replacement costs controllable.

Semi-finish Grinding/Fine Grinding/Polishing Processes: Choose resin grinding wheels with a grit size of 80#~240# and medium to high hardness. Using finer grits can achieve lower surface roughness. The elasticity of the resin improves the surface finish, making it suitable for tool sharpening, mold polishing, and other similar applications.

Intermittent Grinding (Gears/Spline Shafts): Choose resin grinding wheels with better toughness. Intermittent grinding generates frequent impacts, and the toughness of the resin helps prevent wheel breakage, making it more compatible than ceramic grinding wheels.

 

Adjusting Selection Based on Specific Needs

Quality Judgment Criteria: Prioritize genuine products with uniform appearance, no cracks, and original anti-counterfeiting features. Lower static imbalance values ​​indicate better processing stability. High-quality grinding wheels should meet the requirements of "low wear and high chip output," avoiding inferior materials or overly hard grinding discs that accelerate wear.

Equipment Matching Requirements: Grinding wheels compatible with angle grinders must be selected according to their corresponding diameter specifications (commonly 100~400mm). For ordinary angle grinders, 8000-10000 rpm is recommended. For machining cemented carbide, it is recommended to select equipment with a power of 1000W or higher to maximize wheel performance.

Cost Control: For small-batch rough machining, ordinary brown fused alumina resin grinding wheels are sufficient, offering better cost-effectiveness. For batch precision machining of high-hardness materials, although diamond resin grinding wheels have a higher single-cycle cost, the overall processing cost can be reduced by more than 30%.
